AMA November 2024: Donna Levin
The AMA (Ask-Me-ANYTHING) program is a series of interactive Zoom video meetings on the web where attendees can ask questions pertaining to their writing and publishing projects. A publishing industry professional, the featured expert, would answer these questions in these monthly live meetings.

Donna Levin is an Author Coach who helps writers become authors. She has a long association with SFWC and has helped numerous writers hone their craft. She understands the importance of masterful language as well as the necessity of an engaging, fast-moving plot. Her approach is hands-on, practical and collaborative.
Donna has written two books on the craft of writing: Get That Novel Started and Get That Novel Written. She has led fiction writing workshops for three decades, most notably at the University of California at Berkeley Extension, but also at A Clean Well-Lighted Place for Books in San Francisco, and now at New Writing on the Net, the first online writers platform.
Donna is a frequent speaker at conferences. Her own early experience at a writers conference, where the academics in charge were determined to weed out participants who didn’t know their rules (and to do so in unkind ways), eventually inspired her to do the opposite: to see, and to nurture, the potential in every aspiring writer.
Donna is a prolific author in her own right. In addition to her books on the craft of writing, she has authored five acclaimed novels: Extraordinary Means, California Street, There’s More Than One Way Home, He Could Be Another Bill Gates, and now The Talking Stick, which was published by Skyhorse in April of this year.
Donna’s work is included in the Howard Gotlieb Archival Research Center at Boston University and in the California State Library’s collection of California novels. She lives in San Francisco.
