Volunteer

Welcome, new and returning volunteers! We're excitedly getting ready for the next San Francisco Writers Conference. We want our volunteers to be placed where they'll be most effective and get the most out of the experience, so please be frank with us, and we'll do our best to match your interests with your assignments.

When not busy with assigned duties, volunteers are afforded the opportunity to freely attend sessions as well. That said, volunteers must understand that the job comes first. We never want to make a speaker or attendee wait for us as we take our notes, &c. Volunteers get access to the full video recordings of all sessions, so you can go back and catch anything missed. Volunteers can sit in on the keynotes but do not get to partake in the sit-down luncheon. They do get snacks and beverages in the volunteer office, a $15 lunch stipend each full day they volunteer, and a drink ticket at the Gala.

We require at least two days’ commitment of the four official conference days.
For example: due to BART, work, etc.? We generally ask that you be available on and off throughout the day (usually 8 a.m. - 6 p.m.) but we can work with your schedule.
It’s not a problem! Some jobs just require more physical activity than others–such as standing or sitting for long periods–so we want to be sure you are assigned comfortably.
