 ABOUT THE SUMMIT!

The Writing for Hollywood Summit welcomes writers from all backgrounds who are interested in learning about the entertainment industry. Summit coordinator EJ DeBrun has brought together an elite faculty of instructors from the entertainment industry to share their knowledge and expertise for writers interested in writing for the screen, whether it be film, television or streaming media. The one-day summit will be packed with informative sessions for every aspect of the entertainment industry and provides ample opportunity to network with this creative group. WRITING FOR HOLLYWOOD SUMMIT

SPEAKERS

PHIL BEAUMAN began his professional writing career when he was hired over the phone to write for “In Living Color.” After collaborating on “In Living Color,” with the Wayans Family, Jim Carrey, Jamie Foxx, etc. Phil was asked by the Wayans Family to co-write “Don’t Be a Menace to South Central While Drinking Your Juice in the Hood.” And later, the first “Scary Movie.” Phil was also a writer for five seasons and Supervising Producer on “The Wayans Brothers” TV series and the Co-Creator and Co-Executive Producer of Nickelodeon’s number one live action primetime show “Cousin Skeeter.” Phil also sold the Spec script “Not Another Teen Movie” and has sold spec scripts, pitches and TV pilots to Disney, Paramount, DreamWorks, Fox, Warner Bros., Sony and many Independents. He has also collaborated on TV Pilots with Jamie Foxx and with Don Johnson and in 2021 Phil sold his Spec script “Soul Santa” which made its debut on BET Christmas 2021. (In 2022 he had a script optioned by an Academy Award nominated, Golden Globe winning producer, so… fingers crossed!) Phil was raised in San Francisco and attended Marina Middle School, George Washington High School and SFSU.

STEVEN BROWNE has worked on over 650 movie campaigns and wrote the first book on video editing. He’s witnessed the post-production process grow from an unknown mystery into a powerful multi-faceted, multi-platform industry. EJ DEBRUN is a former animator with a Master’s Degree in Animation from Savannah College of Art Design. During her time in the film and television industry, she has worked with many veteran industry professionals at studios such as Nickelodeon and Lucasfilms Animation and has also written for television at an independent studio. Now having left the industry, she is using her previous creative experiences to write fiction in the science fiction and fantasy genre. https://ejdebrun.com | @EJ_DeBrun

ROCKY LANG was born and raised in Hollywood. As a thirty-five-year veteran of the motion picture and television industries, he has produced, written, and directed numerous movies, documentaries, and television programs, including White Squall, directed by Ridley Scott.  He is also the author of eight books.  His father, Jennings Lang, was an agent for Joan Crawford and Humphrey Bogart before becoming an MCA/Universal executive and producer of thirty-five films. PAUL LEVINE is both a literary agent and an entertainment attorney. He specializes in the representation of writers, producers, actors, directors, composers, musicians, artists, authors, photographers, galleries, publishers, developers, production companies and theatre companies in the fields of motion pictures, television, interactive multimedia, live stage, recorded music, concerts, the visual arts, publishing, and advertising. Since starting his literary agency, Mr. Levine has sold over one-hundred fifty (150) fiction and non-fiction books to at least fifty (50) different publishers and has had many books developed as movies-for-television and feature films. paulslevinelit.com 

BRUCE WAWRZYNIAK is a publicist who runs Now Hear This, Inc., and has worked with clients from coast to coast across the U.S., including authors from Las Vegas, Chicago, and Tampa, among others. He has been successful at getting results for clients with efforts such as, but not limited to, book signings, interview placements (TV, radio, newspaper, magazines, podcasts), and handling their Web presence. PAUL ZEIDMAN is an award-winning screenwriter based on San Francisco. When not writing, rewriting, or reading scripts, he enjoys watching movies, reading comic books, running half-marathons, and making what could possibly be the best pecan pie west of the Mississippi.
