The San Francisco Writers Conference shared a booth with Mechanics Institute Library at the Bay Area Book Festival this past weekend. Barb and Rich Santos of SFWC, Taryn Edwards and Heather Terrell of MIL, and volunteers Robert McAdams and Simona Carini had a great time talking about our conferences and the joint MIL-SFWC year-round classes with the writers and readers who wandered by.
“It was the best BABF yet, even thought it was cold and windy,” Barb Santos said. “We had nearly 100 folks stop by each day and had so many great conversations about books and authors.” She saw plenty of old friends too including Jane Glendinning, Cynthia Borris, Cara Black, Laurie King, and Lee Foster, just to name a few.
BABF had 10 indoor stages one outdoor stage going at the same time, featuring keynotes, interviews and panels of authors from all over the world. From Robert Reich to Joyce Carol Oates…2019 SFWC keynoter Jose Antonio Vargas to 2020 keynoter Brooke Warner…SFF favorite Charlie Jane Anders to nonfiction firebrand Anand Giridharadas, there was something for everyone.
Mark your calendars for next year so you can experience this quintessential Bay Area event!
P.S. – Barb Santos got to hear Cathy Guisewite, the creator of the Cathy comic strip, who has a new book out. Fun times!
