Reserve a One-on-One Appointment
with a Presenter in Advance
for the 2022 San Francisco Writers Conference

VIP CONCIERGE CONSULTATIONS – $75 Optional

Three of our favorite presenters, Kevin Smokler, Andy Jones and Diane Frank, will be offering 30-minute one-on-one consultations focusing on “Getting the Most from the Conference”. One of the major enhancements to the event is the opportunity to book an optional one-on-one appointment before the conference through our Appointment app. No more standing in line! If you want to get a jump-start right now on reserving individualized advice during the conference, we’ve made it easy to find out more, reserve, and pay for optional one-on-one appointments with participating publishing professionals. These appointments are available with literary agents, book coaches and book marketing professionals onsite at the 2020 San Francisco Writers Conference.

Optional 30-MINUTE VIP CONSULTATIONS: $75
Kevin is offering 30-minute consultations during the conference, beginning on Thursday and ending Saturday afternoon. Diane’s consultations begin on Friday and continue Saturday. As an attendee at one of the largest writers’ conferences, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed and to end up with more questions than you had when you arrived. We want you to leave with your questions answered and the knowledge necessary to achieve your writing goals.

Author/speaker Kevin Smokler will help you navigate the conference to get the most out of your experience. Fee: $75, which Kevin donates for scholarships for future conference attendees.

Andy Jones has been teacher writing classes at UC Davis since 1990. Originally trained as a poet and literary critic, Andy has taught classes at UC Davis on TS Eliot, Film Theory and Criticism, The Principles of Literary Criticism, and the Poetry of the Beat Generation, as well as Advanced Poetry Writing workshops.

Diane Frank is author of eight books of poems, three novels, and a photo memoir of her 400 mile trek in the Nepal Himalayas. While Listening to the Enigma Variations: New and Selected Poems (Glass Lyre Press) is Winner of the 2022 Next Generation Indie Book Award for Poetry. She is also editor of two bestselling anthologies: Fog and Light: San Francisco through the Eyes of the Poets Who Live Here and Pandemic Puzzle Poems. Diane lives in San Francisco, where she dances, plays cello in the Golden Gate Symphony, and creates her life as an art form. Blackberries in the Dream House, her first novel, won the Chelson Award for Fiction and was nominated for the Pulitzer Prize. DianeFrank.net.

 15-Minute AGENT CONVERSATIONS: $100 Optional

In 2020, these 15-minute Agent Conversations sold out so quickly, and made attendees so happy, that we brought them back with more hours and more agents. This is a scheduled one-on-one 15-minute meeting with the agent you select. You can make your pitch and get detailed feedback since the time slot is longer, or you can have a conversation about your work in progress, your writing career, the market, or any questions you have about craft, commerce, and community. They can help you figure out where you really are in the process and what your next steps could be.
It’s also a great opportunity to make a human connection with an agent and get over some of your nervousness about the pitching and querying to come. While 14 of the agents coming to the SFWC are participating, the number of slots is extremely limited. The fee is $100 with one-half going directly to the San Francisco Writers Foundation.

SCREENPLAY CRITIQUES – $100 Optional

While we had all these incredible Hollywood professionals in town for the Writing for Hollywood Summit, they agreed to take a look at the first 5 double-spaced pages of your screenplay and offer their critique. To participate, attendees will select the screenplay professional of their choice at https://sfwc22screenplaycritiques.setmore.com/, pay $100, and email the first five double-spaced pages of your screenplay to the pro’s email address, then schedule your appointment for your onsite 15-minute chat with that pro during the San Francisco Writers Conference.

INDIE EDITOR CRITIQUES AND CONSULTATIONS – $100 Optional

Our most requested offering over the years has been having an editor critique initial manuscript pages and offer their advice for improvement. We are happy to announce that this critique is finally being offered this year at SFWC22. To participate, attendees will select the editor of their choice at http://sfwc22freeandpaidindieeditors.setmore.com/, pay $100, and email the first five double-spaced pages of your manuscript to the editor’s email address, then schedule your appointment for your onsite 15-minute chat with that editor during the San Francisco Writers Conference. (Be careful when making your selection as there are both free 8-minute consultations with editors as well as the paid manuscript critiques on this list. You can sign up for both. One is free. One is $100.)
